TimeOut Holiday Homes Summer Recruitment Drive

Kylie Hale, Charity Manager for TimeOut, shares their plans for a big recruitment drive this summer !

Recently,, Airbnb.org partnered with TimeOut for a trial recruitment drive, and in just three weeks we’ve had 65 new holiday homeowners sign up! This has grown our community from 185 to 250 properties, which is incredible. These new properties are spread all around NZ.

The big challenge now is to use as many of these properties as possible before our Christmas/January shut down period (when our homeowners are using their properties themselves or renting them out). Doing so will show Airbnb.org that there is strong demand and hopefully encourage them to continue recruiting more donors in the New Year. This is where I would really appreciate your help!

Our wonderful home donors open up their private holiday homes to TimeOut families – such a generous and personal gift. We do our best to make sure the experience is positive for everyone involved, so our donors feel appreciated and continue to offer their homes in the future. If you’re working with whānau who you feel would really value this time away and treat our donors and their homes with the same care and respect it’s given with, we’d love for you to let them know about TimeOut

How it works – reminder
• Around 250 homes across Aotearoa (70% North Island, 30% South Island)
• Each owner donates 1-2 stays per year, 2-6 nights in length, outside busy holiday periods
• While we can’t guarantee a match for every family, we encourage everyone to apply and always try our best
• Applications must be completed online by the recipient themselves or someone joining them on the stay. Verification of illness and recipient ID is required and we will support them through this step.

Eligibility
TimeOut is available to individuals diagnosed with:
• An incurable illness (progressive, not curable, expected to limit life expectancy to five years or less), or
• Stage 4 cancer (including metastatic and/or advanced and/or multiple locations and/or poor outlook)

How you can help
• Share TimeOut with your patients and families

• Request printed brochures to hand out (these can be sent to you)
• Share on your social channels –

• Arrange a short video call with your team – I’d love to give you and your team a quick overview and answer any questions
• Please share TimeOut with your wider team and partners/contacts – the more people that are aware of our service the better! Encourage them to register here, so TimeOut can send them updates like this one: https://timeoutnz.org/stay-in-touch.html
