HQSC – Frailty Care Guidelines – 2023

The HQSC have just published the new Frailty Care Guidelines, there is a focus on Aged Residential Care although they will also be helpful in a variety of care settings. As Aotearoa’s aged population increases, the recognition and treatment of frailty has become crucial to all health care environments.

Frailty is a recognised clinical syndrome that requires specialised assessment and interventions to promote resilience in people who are ageing and/or those with multiple co-morbidities. The development of these guides have been nurse led by Julie Daltrey & Patumahoe Leaf-Wright.

A webinar was hosted by the HQSC on 31 August 2023 and it is hoped the recording will soon be available on line.
